Meet Jack O'Lantern! A handmade pumpkin decoration that is made with a real, dried gourd! It's surprising to know that Jack O'Lantern began as a seedling on a farm! To make this Jack O Lantern, I cut the top off a dried gourd and clean out the middle. I then carve his face by hand, just as you would a fresh jack-o-lantern. Translucent paints and waxing show off the gorgeous shell of the pumpkin gourd and feels wonderfully smooth to the touch.

I like to dress my whimsical pumpkins in style, so I channel my inner Madd Hatter and create beautiful autumn witch hats. The fall-themed hats have a wonderful autumn feeling with lots of texture and foliage. The brim and point of the hat have wires built-in, so you can have fun adjusting the wave of the brim and the crinkle of the pointed witch's hat. This makes each pumpkin gourd truly unique, with its own personality. This is why each one of my gourds has a name to reflect their own personal style. For a fun added touch, I burn their names onto the back of the gourds.

Fun Facts & Tid Bits
-Jack O'Lantern's measurements are 21 inches tall.
-The gourd is about 7 inches wide. His hat is 11 inches wide at the brim.
-His witch hat is made with gorgeous pretty calico and super soft plaid flannel fabric. The burlap accents are made from upcycled coffee sacks!
-The brim of Jack's hat is decorated with iconic fall elements. It includes straw, a velvet pumpkin, acorns, pine cones, and dried botanicals.
-The acorns are from my own collection I've gathered at my home.
-I use dried gourds that come from farms grown in the United States.
-I leave the inside unpainted because I think it's important to not forget the true nature of this little witch is a real vegetable; not a piece of plastic.
-Jack O'Lantern, the gourd, includes a battery-operated candle.

Thoughts on my love of battery-operated candles. There's nothing better for your fall tabletop decor than to have lighted whimsical gourds around your home! However, I am a bit lazy. I really don't enjoy walking around my house turning on all the lights, and then having to turn them off at bedtime. So I include a handy battery-operated candle with a timer! This is the best invention ever! You turn on the timer setting around dusk, then it stays on for about six hours. It will turn off on its own! It's so heartwarming when the gourds just light up as the sun is setting. You don't have to touch it again until the battery runs out and needs to be replaced.
