Handmade Christmas Elf Decoration With Light, Unique Christmas Gourd Art, Table Centerpiece

Meet Jingle, the Christmas Elf! This Christmas gourd is a very happy, and very unique elf that is handmade using a real dried gourd! It may be surprising to know that "Jingle the elf" began as a seedling on a farm, grown in the United States.

To make these Christmas elf decorations I first cut the tops off of dried gourds. I clean out the middle and carve the faces and snowflakes just as you would a fresh jack-o-lantern. Translucent paints and waxing show off the gorgeous shell of the gourd which feels wonderfully smooth to the touch. I like to dress my Christmas elves in style, so I channel my inner Madd Hatter and create adorable holiday elf hats incorporating the gourd tops. These festive hats are decorated with all the iconic elements of Christmas. Sprigs of pine, berries, cinnamon sticks, and jingle bells adorn the hats. Full of gorgeous holiday colors and textures, the hats reflect the personality of each gourd.

Jingle's hat is red and black buffalo check, with a trim of fluffy faux fur. A lovely jingle bell to hangs off the tip of his elf hat, which I enhanced myself with some special Christmas snow. Each elf gourd is truly unique, with its own name (burned onto the back) and a festive personality. I leave the inside unpainted because I think it's important to not forget this Christmas elf is not made of plastic, but a real natural vegetable!

Light them up! It's wonderful to have these gourd elves twinkle with golden candlelight in your home at Christmas! However, walking around your house, and turning on all the lights of your Christmas decorations can be rather labor-intensive. So I like to include a battery-operated tealight candle with a timer! Turn on the timer setting around dusk. It stays on for about six hours, and turns off on its own! It's so wonderful when the elves just light up as the sun is setting! You don't have to touch it again until the battery runs out and needs to be replaced.
