This is a handmade rustic Christmas hymn sign, inspired by one of my favorite Christmas hymns, "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". The artwork has the look of a sketch but is actually "drawn with fire", with wood-burning tools and techniques. I am very inspired by all the wonderful Christmas Carol and Hymn music sheets I've seen over the years. Where the families gather for church on a wintery Christmas day. They arrive by a horse-driven sleigh or walking hand and hand to celebrate this wonderful holiday.
To prepare the reclaimed and now repurposed wood I lightly sand it down, leaving some of the natural patina created by the outdoor elements over time. Slight cracks and nail heads are left "as is" for added rustic texture. The beautiful brown color created with pyrography is a perfect complement to the reclaimed wood. For a wintery look, I add hints of white that accent the artwork.
This sign has two beautiful textured loops of corrugated metal for the red and brown rope to tie to. Whether you hang the sign or just lean it on the fireplace mantle, you'll enjoy all the wonderful character and texture this Christmas artwork displays.
