Meet Bee! This whimsical gourd has a woodland Fairy flair and is made with a real dried gourd. It's surprising to know that this happy pumpkin began as a seedling on a farm! I use dried gourds that come from farms in the United States. I cut the tops off, clean out the middle and carve the faces just as you would a fresh jack-o-lantern. Translucent paints and waxing show off the gorgeous shell of the gourd which feels wonderfully smooth to the touch. I like to dress my whimsical gourd characters in style, so I channel my inner Madd Hatter and create beautiful hats to help showcase their personality.
"Bee" loves to relax under the canopy of the forest trees and watch the duck families along the lakeshore. She is always a little surprised that her cap has attracted so many ladybugs! But here cap is in fact, the perfect spot for her little visitors! The burlap visor is cut from an upcycled coffee bean sack and is decorated with lovely green moss, acorns, puka pods, pinecones, and tiny white flower buds. Each fairy gourd is truly unique, with its own personality. I leave the inside unpainted because I think it's important to not forget the true nature of this gourd is a real vegetable!
Light them up! There's nothing better than having the lights pop on around the house as the sun is setting outside. I really don't enjoy walking around my house turning lights on and off so this fairy pumpkin comes with its own battery-operated tea light with a timer! Just turn on the timer setting around dusk, then it stays on for about six hours, and turns off on its own! You don't have to touch it again until the battery runs out and needs to be replaced.
