Meet Ripple! This whimsical carved gourd has a woodland Fairy flair and is made with a real dried gourd. It's surprising to know that this happy gourd character began as a seedling on a farm! I use dried gourds that come from farms in the United States. I cut the tops off, clean out the middle and carve the faces just as you would a fresh jack-o-lantern. Translucent paints and waxing show off the gorgeous shell of the gourd which feels wonderfully smooth to the touch. I like to dress my whimsical gourds in style, so I channel my inner Madd Hatter and create beautiful hats to help showcase their personality.
Ripple enjoys warm summer days, watching the flowers grow, and sighting the hummingbird's arrival in the spring. His hat is made from upcycled jeans and features lovely white blossoms, acorns, ladybugs, and bumblebees. The brim of Ripple's hat has wire built-in, so you can adjust the wave of the brim to look just right in your home. Each gourd character is truly unique, with its own personality. I leave the inside unpainted because I think it's important to not forget the true nature of this gourd is in fact a real vegetable!
Light them up! There's nothing better than having the lights pop on around the house as the sun is setting outside. I really don't enjoy walking around my house turning lights on and off so this fairy gourd comes with its own battery-operated tea light with a timer! Just turn on the timer setting around dusk, then it stays on for about six hours, and turns off on its own! You don't have to touch it again until the battery runs out and needs to be replaced.
